Society Constitution & Rules

1. NAME
The name of the society to be “Rutland Golf Society”

2. MEMBERSHIP
The membership is to be limited to 32 playing members, with a waiting list formed on a first come, first served basis. New applicants to be proposed and seconded by members of the Rutland Golf Society and that the committee or Annual General Meeting’s acceptance be final. Honorary membership may be offered to past members of the society, subject to ratification by the Annual General Meeting.

3. OFFICERS
The Officers (Viz. President, Captain, Vice Captain and Secretary/Treasurer) and the Committee to be elected by majority vote at the Annual General Meeting to be held at the end of each season. The committee to comprise of the Officers, the previous year’s Captain and two other members. The nomination for Vice Captain to be made by the Committee.

4. ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION
The Annual Subscription to be fixed each year at the Annual General Meeting and all subscriptions to be paid by 1st March. If a member’s subscription remains unpaid by that date, he shall there upon, unless the Committee otherwise resolve, be deemed to have ceased to be a member without prejudice, however to his liability to pay the amount due.

5. GREEN FEES MEAL COSTS
Any member who commits himself to play in a competition or to stay for a 
meal, after a competition, and fails to do so, will be liable for the costs of any green fees or meal involved. All members are expected to respect the rules of 
the Dining Room and Lounge of each Golf Club by wearing a jacket and tie.

6. ACCOUNTS
The accounts of the Society to be ready for submission at the Annual General Meeting.

7. COMPETITIONS AND PRIZES
All competitios held, to be played as stableford, each member playing off his full club handicap. Cups, shields, plates etc. having been given by members, or their companies, to be held for one year only and suitable engraved. Prizes for competitions to be bought from Society funds, chosen by the Secretary and awarded to the competitors with the highest points, second highest points and third highest points. The winners to be presented with their prize after the meal. One person, one prize per meeting. The person with the higest number of points from four out of six meetings in the year to receive the Bertie Connell trophy (to be held for one year only). Stroke allowance for the singles competition to be full difference.

8. ETIQUETTE TO RULES
All members are expected to comply with the rules of Golf as approved by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, and must be strictly adhered to, except as varied by Local Rules, and at all times etiquette and local rules must be observed.

9. ALTERATION TO RULES
Any alteration to rules to be a three quarter majority decision of members attending the Annual General Meeting.

10. KITTY MONEY
Members are not allowed to play for kitty money, other than between the three ball in which they are playing, other than an organised sweep by Committee.

11. COMMITTEE DECISION
Any matters arising appertaining to the Society (not covered by these rules), the Committee’s decision will be final.
